The article analyzes the works of the Puerto Rican thinker Eugenio María de Hostos (1839 – 1903) and the Peruvian one Augusto Salazar Bondy (1925-1974). It puts forward the idea that it is possible to recognize a singular link between utopia and humanism in both thinkers. The analysis contributes to the characterization of these concepts and aims at providing theoretical support for a reflection on the contradictions of our times.
