In this paper we reconstruct from the perspective of memories a land conflict that took place in 1998 in La Simona, Santiago del Estero. After making visible at national level the precariousness of land tenure, this event is presented as a milestone of the Peasant Movement of Santiago del Estero. For this purpose, we conducted interviews with the protagonists, as well as analyzed a corpus of archives of various kinds. This allowed us to reconstruct the process of resistance through different temporal traces of memory shared by the group. These narratives in turn are crossed by different affectivities that re-signify the event according to the place that each subject occupied at that time, but also with the place they occupy today. We conclude that this event deserves the place of a milestone not only because of the undeniable success of the resistance, in terms of obtaining writings, but also because of the symbolic impact that resulted in the political recognition of the movement at provincial, national and international level.
