This article aims to study two fundamental problems of transhumanism: gene editing (specifically the case of CRISPR/Cas9) and mind uploading in light of the concept of gothic technology. The appropriation of the Gothic category aims to glimpse the contradictions of scientific and technological rationality thanks to some of its philosophical premises (hybridization, phantasmagoria, among others). At the same time and derived from these analyses, an outline will be made of the problems related to a future posthuman society in ethical, military, political, social and philosophical aspects. When reflecting on posthuman society, the place of the subject and its possible extinction through these technologies will also be highlighted.
