This paper makes a review of the history of training in psychology in Latin America. Specifically, the following query is discussed: when does the concern about training in psychology begin in Latin America? In order to answer this query, a revision of different documentary sources was carried out with the objective of analyzing the collected information. The research showed that such a concern began to appear in the First Latin-American Congress of Psychology performed in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1950. This concern also appears as a topical subject of the First Inter-American Congress of Psychology gathered in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 1953. Of course, the paradigmatic instance appears in the First Latin-American Conference about Training in Psychology, performed in Bogota, Colombia in 1974. Nowadays, the activities related to training in psychology are carried out by the organizations of psychology that are the most representative in the region. This paper offers a historical review of the different instances where the concern about training in psychology has been present as a collective interest in Latin America.
