The Vietnam Conflict (1964-1975) was a consequence of this doctrine, supported by the american militaryindustrial complex that earned big profits in the war. Despite having the technology and the most powerful and sophisticated weaponry of the time, the greatest armed forces in the world could not break the will of a people determined to fight to the last consecuences. This reflection reviews, with the perspective of half a century, the military aspects and the social and cultural impact derived from this long and cruel war.
