This paper analyzes the campaign discourse of Carlos Reutemann, candidate to the government of Santa Fe province, for the Justicialist sublema “I believe in Santa Fe”, from August to September of 1991. In a context of crisis and transformation of political representation, the discourse of Reutemann sought to rebuild the representative link partially damaged through various discursive strategies. First, defining himself as a political outsider, taking distance, at the same time, from “traditional politicians”, who were the targets of a negative perception from citizenship. Second, outlining the group of “undecided” as privileged receiver of his allocutions. Finally, giving new sense to Peronist tradition, and establishing an ambiguous relationship with it, to which he referred alternatively from his condition of an outsider, trying to widen as much as possible the extent of his political speech.
