Throughout this work we will focus on explaining how, from the Foucauldian perspective, health operates as a biopolitical practice under neoliberal forms of government of populations. To do this, we will stop at the author's analyzes carried out in The Birth of Biopolitics and his conferences on social medicine in 1974, where he addresses the crisis in medicine and how health has been transformed into an object of consumption, an imperative of life empowerment. At the same time, we will stop to think about the validity of what Foucault said to understand the relationship between biopolitics and health today. To do this, we will establish a dialogue with the analyzes of Giorgio Agamben, Boris Groys and Byung-Chul Han around the health-disease relationship. Now, once this diagnosis has been made, we are interested in linking it with the notion of “Great Health” by Friedrich Nietzsche. In La Gaya Ciencia the German philosopher introduces a criticism of this permanent desire for health and proposes to think of it in connection with illness as a constant evolution. Therefore, we will look for a possible way out of the problems identified in Foucauldian approaches in this novel definition of health.
