The aim of this paper is to analyse aspects of the policies of mobilisation and demobilisation of the military and local authorities by the Argentine Confederation and Buenos Aires around the rural towns of Buenos Aires, after Cepeda (1869). We seek to collaborate in the understanding of the dynamics that continued in contexts of uncertainty after a major battle and the signing of a peace agreement, as well as the tensions inherent to this situation. Based on the communication between military and civilian authorities from the territory, we reconstruct clues that allow us to recover the tensions of those who carried out these processes while issues of sovereignty, representation and self-government were being discussed in the framework of the construction of the national state.
