Alternative spaces for food marketing have been consolidated in recent years, promoting an exchange based on objectives and logics different from the standards of the conventional market, which focuses exclusively on the accumulation of capital. From the perspective of economic sociology, this process has been theorized through various concepts such as; alternative markets, circuits, networks. The systematization of previous research reflects both an empirical complexity due to its diversity, and a theoretical complexity due to the growing discussion related to the “alternativeness” of these experiences. Therefore, the objective of this work is to deepen the investigation into the similarities and differences between the main concepts used by the preceding studies, as well as their constitutive dimensions, as a bridge to discuss the current challenges of alternative marketing, taking as reference to the experience linked to family farm.
