Youth-Onset Homelessness Experiences Among Women in Buenos Aires, Argentina: An Intersectional Perspective on Vulnerability and Gender

Abstract

The article analyzes issues that could affect more severely those women who first experienced homelessness before the age of 30. The work was carried out with women experiencing homelessness (n = 72) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Information was collected through a structured interview. Results show that interviewed who were younger, those who had been homeless for longer, and those who had been in this situation in more than one occasion had first experienced homelessness at an early age. Women who had first experienced homelessness before the age of 30 were more likely to have suffered various complex situations in their family context.
