This article is part of the research project called “The social representations of genders and sexualities of the teacher trainers of the Physical Education Faculty in the Universidad Nacional de Luján. Challenges, achievements and resistances in addressing ISE (Integral Sexual Education)” (EXP-LUJ: 770/2021). This project studies the social representations (Jodelet, 1986; Alasino, 2011) of teachers in relation to sexualities and genders and allowed us to locate certain tensions, oscillations and contradictions in the discourse, understanding that these affect the way of thinking and developing teaching practices. From the interviews carried out within the framework of the research, four dimensions of analysis were elaborated that allow us to understand the contradictions that emerge from the teaching discourses: "between experiences and concepts", "between the individual and the sociocultural", "between diversity and binarism” and “contradictions as objects of reflection”. It is considered that the analysis of tensions, oscillations and contradictions allows us to identify cores of meaning that sometimes constitute epistemological obstacles (Bachelard 1987) for the mainstreaming of ISE (Morgade and Gonzalez del Cerro, 2021), as well as elements that invite to reflect on one's own teaching practices.
