This article presents a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines with the aim of analyzing studies that apply questionnaires to students in relation to issues of university access, retention, and virtualization. Three databases –ScienceDirect, SciELO, and Google Scholar– were used to identify empirical research articles published between 2018 and 2022. Sixteen studies were analyzed and grouped into two thematic categories: 1-Student profiles and characteristics, and 2-Academic satisfactions and perceptions. The analysis of the questionnaires revealed key variables related to student dropout, academic satisfaction, and the use of digital technologies. Asymmetric five-point Likert scales predominated. Characteristics for the design of questionnaires used in psychology and education research on the topics addressed are discussed. The study concludes by emphasizing the relevance of designing questionnaires adapted to the specific study context.
