This work analyses some representative authors of Argentine poetry in the 90s—those who were more linked to an objectivist aesthetic. The aim is to study the dialogic relationship between subjectivity and the degraded natural landscape, mainly the water in its different extensions and what inhabits it. Although the critics agree that the characteristic procedures of this poetics are the gaze, the writing of the exterior and the subtraction of the self, the sites with which it is usually related tend to the urban and the immediate, as city poetry. However, we propose to consider those poems in which nature— rivers, marine or suburban landscapes—acquires similar orders of corruption to those possessed by the human condition and its cultural products. This is a novel mode of social criticism that falls on the landscape as synecdoche, where subjectivities, despite constituting themselves in different ways in this dialogue, can be collectively conceived under the same period mood; a similar lens with which the ruins and remains of a landscape devastated at the end of the century are expansively recorded.
