Revisitando los miedos del pasado: Reversión de Frankenstein o el moderno Prometeo en el proyecto creador de Junji Ito

Abstract

El artículo analiza la adaptación de Frankenstein realizada por Junji Ito y sostiene que, a diferencia de las versiones serializadas y estandarizadas de clásicos en manga, esta constituye una reinterpretación autoral. Mediante el estudio comparado con la novela de Mary Shelley, se examinan las transformaciones narrativas y visuales que intensifican los elementos góticos y de horror. El trabajo demuestra cómo Ito resignifica la historia a través de la humanización del monstruo, la hýbris trágica y su particular estética del terror.This article examines Junji Ito’s manga adaptation of Frankenstein and argues that, unlike standardized manga versions of literary classics, it represents a deeply authorial reinterpretation. Through a comparative analysis with Mary Shelley’s novel, the study explores the narrative and visual changes that enhance the Gothic and horror dimensions of the story. It shows how Ito redefines the original through the humanization of the monster, tragic hýbris and his distinctive horror aesthetics.
