Several analysts agree that the Argentine political discourse of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández is an eminently controversial one that, in a manifest way, constructs different adversaries using various polyphonic-argumentative mechanisms. In this article we propose to address a specific controversial mechanism that we call renomination, taking the particular case of the speech of Cristina Fernández. To achieve that purpose, we analyze a set of controversial statements around different topics in which the enunciator seeks to take a distance both from his adversaries and from his own enunciation at a previous moment. We characterize renomination as a mechanism in which, through a double refutative and renominative movement, a new name is given to a term, which can refer to an event, a concept or the enunciation itself.
