The following paper focuses on a group of entrepreneurs who took part in a state programme of microloans from the Banco Popular de la Buena Fe. The practices and significancecarried out while participating in the programme were reconstructed. To do this, entrepreneur’s’ assessments, connotations and uses of the borrowed money were analyzed on one hand, and emerging bonds and social relationships on the other hand. Depth interviews and participants observations were carried out. One of the main findings showed that micro loans appear to be an attractive way of financing due to simplicity of access and refunding. However, the impossibility of running a long-term profitable business with that small amount of money must be mentioned. Likewise, within the framework of “solidary guarantee” moral virtues and values at handling borrowed money turned important, becoming elements of prioritization, evaluation and differentiation among the future loaners and affecting the acceptance or denial to access and permanence to the programme.
