In the current context, adolescents face a wide variety of demands at a cognitive, emotional and relational level, which is why they increasingly need to develop not only cognitive but also emotional skills that allow them to face the various challenges of modern life. An important aspect to take into account is sex differences. The aim of this study is to describe the emotional profile of Argentine adolescents based on sex differences. In this regard, a sample of 163 secondary level students aged between 11 and 14 years (48.1% male and 51.9% female) was evaluated. They answered a sociodemographic questionnaire and a scale of emotional intelligence, empathy and cognitive emotional regulation. The results show that women present greater empathy and maladaptive emotional regulation strategies, while men report greater ability in emotional intelligence and emotional regulation. Therefore, the results agree with previous studies in different cultural contexts, although it is suggested to delve into the study of gender to explore the possible explanations of these observed differences.
