Among the multiple impacts that the coronavirus pandemic had on the field of education, various changes in teaching methods were recorded, particularly an increase in the use of communication technologies. Subjects in the natural sciences faced the challenge of addressing their experimental idiosyncrasies when proposing practical laboratory activities. The return to in-person learning, contrary to initial assumptions, has complicated the situation, resulting in a multitude of combined, hybrid, or mixed approaches where traditional methods intertwine with digital ones in multiple ways. In this sense, the development of didactic materials constitutes a central axis of educational practices due to its mediating function between the object of knowledge, students, and the teacher, coherently integrating learning objectives. Consequently, the objective of this work is to introduce some key approaches to designing materials and activities for teaching the sciences, aimed at addressing the following questions: How can the teaching of experimental disciplines be expanded? How can actions promoting understanding be formulated? How can practical experimental activities be redefined in the teaching proposal? Ultimately, the aim is to provide some insights for navigating the transformative path of teaching experimental sciences from print culture to the digital realm in these challenging times.
