Resumen
Building on previous developments of low-coherence interferometry applied to communications (LCI-Cs), in which information transmission has relied on amplitude modulation, this work introduces and develops the concept of optical path difference (OPD) modulation in LCI-C systems. The implementation of a controlled OPD modulation is presented, enabling the adaptation of the interferometric response according to the nature of the transmitted information, whether analog or digital. In addition, theoretical models and numerical simulations are developed to describe the relationship between the modulation parameters and the resulting interferometric visibility. Experimental results demonstrate that OPD modulation constitutes an effective approach to extending and enhancing the capabilities of LCI-C systems, thereby opening new opportunities for robust information transmission and advanced optical communication system design.
