The Medea’s ability of rejuvenation has undergone various reinterpretations during the Early Modern period. From this capacity -which is described in Medea by Euripides and, especially, in the Metamorfosis by Ovid-, several authors have drawn some parallels with certain medical practices: warm baths, physical exercise as “preservative medicine”, the administration of remedies by injections into the sang. The aim of this work is to highlight the diverse allusions to Medea as healer, through the analysis of literature, medical writers, and alchemical treatises. The wide period boarded, since the turn of the 15th century to the 17th century, is justified by the intention to identify some changes in the modes in which this pagan figure has been rescued.
