The article analyzes the ways in which the young generations of “new right-wing” activists make use of, dispute and redefine emblematic terms and expressions of the memory of State terrorism —such as “Never again”— that sedimented and defined the relationships between democracy and the recent past. To this purpose, we analyze two public scenes carried out by these young activists during the period 2020-2023: the performances at the Rodolfo Walsh subway station and the interpretations and actions that led to challenging the measures implemented during the covid-19 pandemic. The scenes show that these young people, born and raised in democracy, found conditions of political opportunity during the pandemic to mobilize categories, principles or values used to make sense of the recent past to position themselves in the political dispute of the present in relation to their opponents, adversaries and competitors. The complexity of this political work —what they called “cultural battle”— invites us to explore the multiple meanings and diverse uses they give to these categories and repertoires of mobilization.
