The parliamentary repealing, promoted by the Executive Power, of the laws ‘Punto Final’ (final point) and ‘Obediencia Debida’ (due obedience) in 2003 and the declaration of unconstitutionality by the Supreme Court of Justice in 2005 of these same regulations - which ensured impunity for extinction of the criminal action and the nonaccountability of the crimes committed during state terrorism in the last military dictatorship (CELS, 2008) - brought with it the appearance of new actors in the federal prison context: prisoners convicted and prosecuted for crimes against humanity. From an ethnographic perspective the article describes and analyzes these experiences of confi nement through the expressions and the methods in which criminal perpetrators make their demands known, claim legitimacy and public participation appealing to the status of political prisoners and the identity of victims, both in defense of their legal cases as well as improvements in the conditions of the penal servitudes. It also reflects on the scope and limitations of these narratives to inform us about the current situation of the armed forces and security forces to which many of the detainees still belong, in particular about their participation in the contemporary political arena.
