Since the beginning of the 90's, many of the Latin-American countries leaded important changes in their higher education systems. The processes of globali-zation and mercantilization of higher education were followed by institutional changes introduced by the accreditation and evaluation university mechanisms, among other things.Recently in Argentina, different projects of law have been presented to the National Legislature ai-med to amending the existing regulatory framework. Focusing on one of the most important aspects of the project as the composition of the institution respon-sible for accreditation and evaluation processes, we will conduct a comparative analysis.Based on policy analysis and neo-institutiona-lism tools, we intend to address the difficulties of the political class to consider alternative schemes for the administration and member’s election within that institution.
