The article approaches a group of collective representation, imaginaries, relationship dynamics and differentiation forms that allow characterizing the cultural profile of Santa Cruz provinces during the 20th century. First, it is shown how the vindication of the bond with the land and the pain suffered on it are symbols that permit the construction of inward hierarchy. Second, how different expressions of the “other” were historically charged with negatively tinged representation and discourses, creating mistrustful ties. Third, how this society developed a short term conception of time that limited their ability for long term actions.
