The article attempts to interpret the conception of Fortune in texts by Poggio Bracciolini. In the first place, it dwells on the Discourse on Marriage, where conceptual networks are established between "marriage", "lineage", "long duration" and "sacredness". Secondly, On Nobility, the aforementioned notions regarding "nobility" and "fortune" are considered. Finally, in On the inconstancy of fortune, the notion of Fortune is analyzed in the conceptual horizon worked on. Without reaching a final conclusion, the two interlocutors of the dialogue hold conflicting positions: one asserts that Fortune is Providence, the other, an inconstant force that men rely on to achieve their goals, the result sometimes being a tragedy and others a comedy.
