Artificial skull deformation is a subject of significant interest to infer social influences and interactions. Considering all the available information at present, 2,753 cases from northern Chile and northwestern Argentina (3000 BC - 1450 AD), the distribution of different deformation types is analyzed from the spatial and temporal point of view, using accounts, proportions and statistical tests based on the distribution χ2. Characteristic profiles at regional and subregional levels could be established. In the northwest Argentina, the tabular outnumber the rest, domined by oblique tabular, with a scarce presence of circular deformation; while in the northern Chile, though the proportion of tabular is high, the presence of circular deformation is greater. The differences found are based on the combination of the deformation types and on the variation of the popularity of each, dominated by one or the other, from north to south and from the coast to the interior continent.
