New media has transformed the ways in which self-identity is shown. What formerly belonged to privacy and personal aspects of life now has blurred frames with what is considered public. This phenomenon is known as “extimacy” (Sibilia, 2008) and works as a proper theoretical tool for the analysis of youth practices that take place on the internet when it is observed the presentation of selves alter-directed and exteriorized. In this paper, in particular, it will be considered two of them: sexting and vlogging. Also, it is shown an exploratory case analysis where categories of extimacy are reviewed. Finally, the need of studies that deepen in new forms of Self-Identity among youth people is stated.
