Resumen

Vegetation index and environmental variable data recorded in a Patagonian steppe located at the Río Mayo Experimental Center of INTA, near the town of Río Mayo. The data are part of the doctoral thesis entitled “CO₂ Emission and Uptake in a Patagonian Arid Ecosystem: Biophysical Determinants and Effects of Environmental Changes”, and were used to analyze the relationship between vegetation dynamics and environmental variables in a Patagonian arid ecosystem.

Información Técnica

The file contains datasets related to vegetation dynamics, environmental variables, soil physical and chemical properties, study site information, and methodological descriptions. The workbook is organized into separate sheets, including: Study-site, Methodology, SAVI, GCC, NDVI, Environmental-variables, and Soil-physics-and-chemistry. Each sheet contains the corresponding variables and measurements organized by date, year, or sampling unit, depending on the dataset. Environmental variables were obtained from an INTA meteorological station located 2 km from the study site, including precipitation, air temperature, net radiation, and relative humidity. In addition, soil water content was measured using sensors installed at different depths (10, 40, 100, and 200 cm), with records collected every 30 minutes. Vegetation dynamics were assessed using proximal and satellite-derived vegetation indices. The GCC (Green Chromatic Coordinate) index was obtained using an automatic camera installed above the vegetation, which recorded daily images between 2019 and 2025. NDVI and SAVI indices were estimated from spectral reflectance sensors and MODIS satellite data.
