This article analyzes the per capita generation of solid waste in a municipality of the Misiones Province, Argentina, using a quantitative approach. The objective was to determine the amount of waste produced per inhabitant, per neighborhood and per day (kg/inhab.neighborhood.day) in the city of Oberá. To this end, data were collected on the volume of waste gathered, the population served, as well as the collection routes, schedules, and frequencies across different neighborhoods. Statistical tools —such as mean, median, mode, and standard deviation — were then applied to analyze the information obtained. Based on the population density of each neighborhood and the amount of waste collected, the Per Capita Generation (PCG) was calculated by neighborhood. The results reveal differentiated patterns of waste generation among neighborhoods, underscoring the need to design management strategies tailored to the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of each sector. In this regard, the study provides key informations aa starting point for the formulation of more effective and sustainable municipal policies for household waste management.
