The following work seeks to explore, through the analysis of an event, the way in which the contentious actions of the subaltern rural sector in Argentina are configured during the final year of the Alianza Cambiemos government. This heterogeneous and dynamic sector organized a two-day event in May 2019 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, where more than twenty groups from various parts of the country gathered for a meeting aimed at producing collective guidelines and work strategies for another government. By observing and participating in the “1º Foro Nacional por un Programa Agrario Soberano y Popular “ [1st National Forum for a Sovereign and Popular Agrarian Program], this study seeks to analyze how the subaltern rural sector is produced as a unit, while also recognizing how leaders of these organizations understand their relationship with state institutions.
