Care work is a subordinate work, undervalued and of great importance for the maintenance of life in general. The objective of the article is to describe and analyze how mandates and judgments circulate towards women mothers (from poor neighborhoods under persistent poverty) in relation to the care they perform; and analyze the relationships between the living conditions of these women and the possible accompaniment, in a public hospital of the Province of Buenos Aires during the year 2018. For this, ethnographic fieldwork was performed. It was concluded that the hospital, a State institution, produces micro-practices in which symbolic and cultural constructions are deployed, resulting in the feminization and maternalization of child care.
