Which ideas does the concept of crown contain in the political work of a lay writer like Christine de Pizan in the early 15th century? In what way the use of this concept demonstrate the existence of a political theory? Could be the concept of the crown understood separately from the king’s body? Throughout this article we will research some of the different uses of the concept of crown which the writer uses to develop her theory about the king’s duty. It will be studied how Christine de Pizan capitalizes on the different meanings of the crown in the Late Middle Ages which are the general principles of the philosophical and political paradigms of modernity.
