Understanding neoliberalism as a way of social regulation means setting aside the most common opinions that conceive it as an economic policy or a philosophical doctrine. The notion of social regulation implies considering the government component that neoliberalism has, that is, to be a mode of behavior conduction and production of subjectivities, which we will analyze in the first place. Second, we will approach the three modes of social regulation that we consider proper to neoliberalism as a way of government: crisis, enterprise and competition. While these terms refer to the economic vocabulary, our proposed reading is to recognize its political dimensions, ie, those dimensions that are constitutive of the social order and provide the mechanism from which produces reality, produces subjects and it governs them. This approach is made from a perspective geneológica indicating, first, a particular way to understand the sources with which it works and, secondly, a specific way to understand this problem configuration we are concerned. In this paper, we intend to give an account of the current coordinates of neoliberalism or, as we have already stated, the three elements that make it a mode of government. So we returned to the sources, to their founding fathers, not with the intention of tracing the epistemological value of neoliberal thought, but of reconstructing the conditions of possibility that make it strategically powerful today. It is not about evidence, but about government devices.
