The presence of fungi in the MACN-In collection motivated the record of the basic environmental conditions: temperature and relative humidity in the storage space and inside a collection cabinet. Three data loggers of these two environmental parameters recorded six daily data for more than a year (two in the room and one inside a wooden cabinet). The data obtained were compared with each other and with the external environmental values. The building proved to be very efficient in reducing the daily variations of temperature and relative humidity from the outside. The cabinet did not show any effect in relation to the temperature. However, the cabinet was effective in a second modulation of the daily fluctuations in relative humidity that occurred in the storage room. The average values registered were similar, except during the winter when the temperatures remained notably higher inside the building than outside. Consequently, buildings and cabinets achieve a tolerable stability of the environmental parameters measured, which explains the good conservation of the specimens in the collection for more than seven decades. In addition, the absence of Byne’s disease in the study may indicate that only some types of wood would be responsible for producing it.
