We try to answer under which conditions, for tumor cells under fractionated radiobiological treatments, the convergence to Poisson distribution is valid, using different protocols of dose administration. We also compare tumor control probability models (TCP) using experimental data obtained from bibliography. Two cellular lines growing as megacolonies in vitro are used, which are irradiated with different fractionation schemes: conventional and accelerated. We conclude about the fundamental hypothesis of the used models and obtain information about the parameters of each model and the validity of the involved processes. Total or partial cellular recovery is studied in other two cases, as well as the effect of resensitization and the cellular repopulation between fractio ns in both types of fractionation schemes. We consider the limits generally used in measurements of surviving fraction and analyze the validity of Poisson approximation for each case.
