The transcendental Kantian imagination will be approached from the pre-critical period until its formulation in the Critique of Pure Reason, and then give way to the interpretation that the Slovenian philosopher Žižek made of such a category. Based on this, we will pay attention to how Kant and later Heidegger retract before the enigmatic character of the transcendental imagination, so we will recover its negative character as a sign of its inclusion within a preontological dimension compared to the position of those positions who try to think of the imagination as a synthetic faculty. Recovering the negative character will be in order to develop a critique of post-Foucault studies that introduce subjectivity in the symbolic order.
