Hatcheria macraei is a native Siluriforme, belonging to the Trichomycteridae family. The basic aspects of the biology of this species are little known and the records for the Río Negro basin are scarce and old, since it is distributed in mountainous regions and the last record in the Río Negro basin corresponds to 1985, for Chimpay. (39°10′00″S; 66°09′00″W). The objective of this work is to report the discovery of the species, in Colonia Eustaquio Frias, Río Negro (40° 51’ 11.88’’ S; 63° 10’ 59.88”W). The morphometric data of the specimen were 145 mm and 130 mm for LT (total length) and LE (standard length), respectively. Likewise, the first record of predation on the species is reported, by the marine catfish (Genidens barbus).
