This paper analyzes the characteristics of training circuits for work that are configured from secondary schooling according to urban poverty conditions in two localities of Argentina (Caleta Olivia and San Martín). This is done by describing, firstly, the evolution of school enrollment at this level from the realization of socio-educational maps in which the territories, institutions and population are georeferenced according to the indices of UBN and unemployment of the 2001, 2010 and 2022 censuses. In turn, we analyze student perspectives on the importance of secondary school and the reasons for their school attendance linked to job training, based on semi-structured surveys conducted between 2018 and 2022. The results account for a constant tension in the territory in both localities between the increase in the educational level achieved and the constant degradation of the labor condition of the population over the years. In this framework, training circuits for work are produced in and from secondary schooling, as well as from the perspectives of the students, which tend to differ according to the conditions of urban poverty where the institutions are located.
