Stellar groupings are recognized as tools to clarify various astrophysical aspects such as star formationor the structure of galaxies. In this presentation, a description of the use of stellar groupings is carried out forthe study of the underlying structure of stellar populations at different scales and their link with a fractal design. To this end, several methods are described for the analysis of the spatial distribution of the members of a stellarcluster and of such clusters in a galaxy. The application of these methods over young stellar populations ofdifferent galaxies is studied. In particular, the usefulness of the use of machine learning techniques, minimumspanning trees, stellar density maps and dendrograms is highlighted, both for the identification of young clustersand to reveal the eventual fractal nature of their distribution and its internal structure. The global analysisindicates that the clustering methods known as PLC and HDBSCAN are the most suitable for the study carriedout. On the other hand, the large-scale spatial distribution of the young stellar populations studied is found tobe consistent with a given fractal dimension.
