This study explores the enteroparasitic component community of the guanaco population in a protected area on the Atlantic coast of Chubut Province, Argentina. Fecal samples were collected, processed, and examined using routine copro-parasitological techniques. The study identified 15 parasite taxa, of which 4 were protozoa and 11 were nematodes, increasing our knowledge of the parasitic richness of the local community. Some taxa were reported for first time in Patagonian guanaco population, such as Capillariinae gen. sp. 2, Eimeria lamae, E. punoensis, and E. alpacae. The most prevalent taxa were native and consistent with findings in pre-Hispanic samples from the region. However, some prevalent invasive taxa were also identified. So far, studies conducted in CB2 indicate a richness of the gastrointestinal component community of 18 to 23 taxa, resulting in an example of the greater information that coproparasitology can provide in wildlife.
