In this article we explore the religious phenomenon in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche from a historical perspective, following the religious patterns in the territory since the beginnings of the town, as well as in the present day. Based on a survey carried out as part of a research project, we will identify what Barilochans believe in; their dynamics and itineraries, and their expression and visibility through their religious practices in the local space. The methodology combines quantitative and qualitative strategies. The first strategy is linked to the „Survey of religious beliefs and practices in San Carlos de Bariloche‟, which was based on an online study of religious affiliation, beliefs and practices before and during the period of isolation by COVID-19 in the adult population of San Carlos de Bariloche. The sample was non-probabilistic and the survey was conducted between 1 April and 15 July 2021. The second strategy consists in an analysis of historical documentation aimed at deepening the analysis of the symbolic universe present in the local space over time.
