The experiences, voices and feelings of people with disabilities were historically left aside, or directly denied by the biologicist and materialistic theoretical perspectives of the medical and social models, respectively. This research aims to analyze the experiences of people with disabilities at the National University of San Juan (UNSJ) from the meanings they give to their own experiences. The speciic objectives seek to characterize and problematize the main contributions of the medical model and the social model in relation to the experiences lived from the bodily dimension of people with disabilities, also, to survey experiences of students with disabilities from the UNSJ and to reconstruct and interpret the assumptions present in the experiential accounts of the experiences surveyed. The methodology used is qualitative with an exploratory character, based on bibliographic-documentary reconstruction techniques, data collection and analysis, such as semi-structured interviews mainly. The main results ref lect a constant conjunction of perceptions linked to different ways of understanding and living disability that show the still current struggle of the perspectives of the theoretical models addressed in this work, that is, the medical and social model.
