This paper analyzes the publishing policy of the Argentine Conference of Bishops (CEA) in terms of construction of an authorized documentary memory. In order to achieve this, we first present the concept of memory regarding religious institutions, especially Catholic Church. Secondly, based on this conceptualization, u/e analyze the empirical functioning of the editions of Complete Documents of the Argentine Episcopate observing: a) its immediate circumstances o] publishing; b) the conditions in which they were re-edited in the collection of Complete Documents. This will allow us to understand, on the one hand, the publishing policy of the CEA as a strategic construction of the past, functional to its interests in the present; on the other hand, it will help us discuss some historiographical interpretations that have employed non-critically the collections of complete documents of the CEA without a suitable source criticismo.
