We offer an anthropological analysis of the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic in a concrete reality. Precisely, we examine the constitution of the notion of "essentiality" applied in agro-industrial activity, both materially and symbolically, to continue supporting the productive chain. Embedded in the current ecosocial crisis that erupts in the Pampa Húmeda, our study unit is located in the town of General Villegas. Recovering contributions from the Political Ecology of the South and Ecological Anthropology, we focused on the strategies deployed by the corporate field of industrial agriculture as a hegemonic block to continue consolidating as a dominant agrarian development model. Locally, we look at the strategies and articulations that are interwoven to reproduce these processes. To this end, we describe and analyze ethnographically instances such as the local institutionalization of Good Agricultural Practices and the mobilizations of the agricultural sector in the pandemic context.
