This article intends to show that Philo of Alexandria adopted the concept of “noble lie” (R. III 414b9) coming from Plato and used by Philo in his interpretation of the tale about God’s anger (Deus 64,4-5). The thesis stating that certain kind of narrative and false discourse can have a subsidiary role to real philosophical discourses is a Platonic idea which apparently attracted Philo at an especially difficult hermeneutic moment
