This paper analyzes a very specific and limited issue, referring to the link between the radical leader Marcelo T. de Alvear and the armed revolutionary movements that challenged the governments of Uriburu and Justo in the first half of the 1930’s. It reviews the partisan narratives, the memories of the protagonists of the events, the historical studies elaborated by the most authoritative referents on the subject, and the archives that provide the largest amount of information on the subject (mainly Alvear’s correspondence and the Justo Documentary Fund). Finally, it proposes, in dialogue with these primary and secondary sources, an interpretation of its own that takes into account both Alvear’s assessments and preferences and -with greater emphasis- the political and partisan context in which these considerations were developed.
