In order to identify possible in situ conservation areas, the endemic vascular flora exclusive from Patagonia Argentina were analyzed using geographic and taxonomic criteria. The information was compiled from scientific papers published up to 2003. A total of 303 endemism were registered; eight of which belong to genus category, 253 to species category and 44 exclusively to infra-species category. Almost 60% of the endemic species are restricted to the extraandean region, while 28% are exclusive to the Andes region. A relative regional diversity scale was established taken into account the number of families including endemic taxa. The areas of higher endemic diversity were identified in southwest of Neuquén, west and southeast of Chubut and in almost the entirely territory of Santa Cruz.
