The availability and access to water quantity and quality is one of the main socio-environmental challenges worldwide. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perception of groundwater management in Villa Laguna Brava, a settlement in the province of Buenos Aires with neither a public water supply network nor sewage network service. Through semistructured surveys, local actors’ perception of groundwater quality, quantity and management was evaluated. Although the results show the people surveyed have no clear knowledge about water quality, they believe they manage the resources well and perceive water contamination and management as problems external to the neighborhood. Learning about the local population’s perception is essential to promote local water governance, a fundamental pillar of comprehensive water resources management.
