Resumen

This chapter proposes a cartography of antispeciesist and posthumanist transfeminisms in the Latin American context, focusing on theoretical-practical interventions by activists from Argentina. It seeks to show that such perspectives emerged as plural, heterogeneous, and localized practices aimed at promoting other ways of living and inhabiting the world. To do this, first, I contextualize these claims within the irruption of different Latin American (trans)feminist struggles, emphasizing the importance that trans* struggles have had in Argentinian territory. Second, I re-articulate arguments aimed at thinking about the articulations between cisheteronormativity, speciesism, and coloniality. Third, I analyze some anti-speciesists, travestis, anti-ableist, and indigenous activist’s interventions within the framework of the unfolding campaign Ni Una Menos in Argentina, while, at the same time, trace the ways in which the vindication of the animal emerges as a place of resistance in the heterogeneity of these claims. As a conclusion, I propose that the notion of animality can be thought of as a meeting point for political insurrection of different antispeciesist and posthumanist transfeminist voices.
