The paper poses the question of the motivations behind individual and social renewal of life in Husserl’s philosophy. Reflecting on the problem of the motivations for renewal requires considering the topic of the motivations for the emergence of critique and free thinking. If phenomenology is a radical and critical philosophy, what enables the emergence of the critique of what is given? Are there sufficient conditions that motivate it? First, I contextualize the topic within the more general framework of the problem of motivations for the phenomenological attitude. Second, I raise two issues related to the theme of motivation: On one hand, I examine the possible role of the emotional sphere in the genesis of the process of renewal and its relationship with reflection understood as epistemic critique. On the other hand, I analyze the phenomenon of interpersonal motivation that underlies community renewal.
